While we come to the Desert with a deep respect for its history and experience, when we turned to the store, we struggled with how to adapt it to our evolving vision of a place to celebrate art, nature, and community. In the end, we decided to keep the bones and start fresh with the inside. So, we have cleared out the store to make way for the its next incarnation. While we'll still carry essentials for campers and fun things for kids, we want the store to reflect the mission - respect for nature, celebration of creativity, support of the community. We imagine it will eventually function as a cross between a gallery and a country store. We'll share some of the things we're excited about - as we find them - here at the What's New blog.
It is so refreshing to see fresh new plans and ideas being implemented in bringing the Desert into the 21st century. I am excited to see them as they unfold.
